CONEXPO 2023: REMdevice presents its bestsellers at Las Vegas!

Over 139,000 construction industry professionals from 133 countries flocked to Las Vegas, once again testifying to CONEXPO’s standing as one of North America’s largest and most important trade show events.

The organizers’ official figures put the number of exhibitors at 2,400 from 36 countries, including our own REMdevice team, attending as part of the ICE Italian delegation promoting Italian businesses abroad.

 

We are very happy with the business relationships we managed to establish during the event by taking advantage of the various spaces designed for people to come together: on the REMdevice stand, of course, and OEM exhibitors’ stand, as well as through informal networking opportunities.

So it was an excellent chance to introduce REM device products and technologies to the American market, to meet a number of distributors, and to get a feel for the latest trends in the industry.

We showcased all our product families to cover virtually any application in the realm of construction: T series and Brick handheld remote controls, and Pail and Genesis joystick stations.

And should the application require more specificity, there is always the REMdevice MOVE platform, which allows you to add analogue signals (4-20mA, 0-10V, PWM, Danfoss, Resistive), as well as signals over a communication bus.

BATTERY BOARD AND INDUCTION CHARGER

Focusing on durability and reliability in hostile environments like construction (dust, dirt, moisture), REMdevice has produced an induction charging system that keeps the electronics completely isolated from the outside, and hence less prone to damage from atmospheric elements. This is why it comes with a 3-year warranty, including the rechargeable batteries.

These systems have a battery life of 30/35 hours with a full charge, which takes 5 hours (a partial charge takes 30 minutes and gives you 4/5 hours of operation).

 

T SERIES AND THE BATTERY THAT LASTS FOR UP TO 1000 HOURS

Another piece of REMdevice tech is incorporated into the T series, a remote control that needs no charging: the consumption of its built-in electronics is so low that with a high-capacity (non-rechargeable) battery, it can work for up to 1000 hours.

A lot of applications call for the operator to work for about 2/3 hours a day, and this means the T series can keep going for more than 3 years.

 

CABINET-TO-CABINET APPLICATION

REMdevice is one of the few players to have extended the possible applications of radiofrequency controls, allowing communication between different cabinets.

UTC/URC (20 digital channels with simplex communication) and DCS10 (10 digital channels half-duplex) can safely (PLd for emergency stop) establish a radio link between different points of a building without having to lay cables.

In this country, final customers can find an excellent pre/after sales service thanks to an in-deep knowledge of REMdevice radio remote controls and very strong technical competencies of the KTI team workers.

Our Slovenian Dealer KTI offers a wide range of services. KTI is active in the fields of general automation, electrical installations, fabrication of switchboards up to the installation of industrial radio controls with our REMdevice products.

For this specific application it has been used our Brick transmitter because it’s light and handy but resistant, easily programmable. Brick is the first keyboard with patented induction recharging system, fully isolated from dust and humidity that can work up to 40 working hours with only one charge.
A configurable console for the most demanding applications, ideal to work continuously, without worrying about downtime.
We present you one of the latest interesting project where REMdevice products meets the competence and expertise of KTI elektronika d.o.o.

This project is a very interesting assembly of a goods transport container.

This container is designed to transport bulk cargo with built-in advanced connected technology (hydraulics, electrical equipment, container tracking device) for rail and road transport, which allows users greater flexibility and increases time efficiency.

The container is CSC and UIC tested, its dimensions are 6058 x 2550 x 2400 (2920) mm. The weight of the container is 6200 kg and the volume is 22-29 m³. The angle of inclination of the caisson is up to 45 degrees. It consists of a base, a caisson with upper and lower swing doors and front frames. The hydraulic system is connected to electronic controllers, the handling of the product body is controlled.
The system enables hydraulic opening and closing of walls, lifting of the container, positioning of the dump and protection during transport.

The control system consist of a BRICK 09 pushbutton transmitter with a DIN-CL receiver with relè contacts. The system allows several containers to be controlled simultaneously, thus ensuring greater user safety and at the same time optimising work processes over time.

The container is designed to meet all the needs of the market, as its design offers an innovative and high-tech solution.

This one just presented is on of the potential application where BRICK can find an ideal use.

Also on this occasion we wanted to live up to our characteristics and remain faithful to our DNA.
We did it bidirectional, durable and above all in dual band.

We present you DCS10!

Directly from our R&D department, after a careful analysis of the market and the needs of our customers we have designed and developed our new product. We have added a new module to the range of REMdevice industrial remote controls.

This is an overview of the product, its features and some differences with the UTC+URC command transfer system.

The DCS10 is an industrial remote control able to transfer up to 10 commands or electrical contact between industrial equipments through radio signal when it is not possible or convenient to use cable control.

How is the system composed?

The DCS10 remote control is composed of 2 identical transceiver modular units, each one suitable to place inside the switch cabinet on DIN rail and equipped with a UHF external antenna. The system communicates through a radio digitally codified signal with single code to guarantee the safety of the commands and the STOP. 

The Modules accept inputs to the transmitting section from equipment and PLC with “clean contact” and return the commands from the receiving section via the relay “dry contact”.

FROM UTC+URC TO DCS10: A STEP FORWARD IN SUBSTANCE!

At first glance, the difference between the UTC+URC and DCS10 communication system could go unnoticed.

Also with the DCS10 we are talking about modules that are similar in form but the differences lie in the concept and in the “technological core” of the product.

In fact, unlike the UTC + URC system, the DCS10 industrial radio control system is Bidirectional, that is, using a single pair of DCS10 Modules it simultaneously transfers commands or electrical contacts to both devices thus interconnected, i.e. it acts in both directions.

This is also an advantage in terms of costs. With UTC+URC, in fact, in order to perform the same function, 4 modules (2 pairs) are required, while with the DCS10 only 2 modules (1 pair) are needed. A further advantage is that with DCS10 only one “radio channel” is occupied while for the 2 pairs of UTC+URC 2 “Radio channels” are occupied.

As further confirmation of REMdevice efforts to provide solutions close to the customers and their working and use conditions, the DCS10 is available in the UHF (Dual Band 433 and 870 MHz) and 418 MHz versions. The UTC+URC system is only available in 433 MHz or 870 MHz band that you should order specifically at the beginning and the 418 MHz band is not available.

The new product therefore does not replace the UTC+URC command transfer system as the latter is to be preferred in cases where one-way signal is required.

AUTOMATION, INDUSTRIAL LIFTING AND MORE…

The DCS10 remote control has been designed for industrial lifting and mechanics/automation sectors. Fields of application where even more safety and attention are required in maneuvers for the safety of people and the entire work environment. Applications where there are often several machines where it is difficult or impossible to interconnect them by exchanging signal through classic cable.

The DCS10 is ideal on all those equipments and machines that require the transfer of on/off relay commands from one machine to another and vice versa for the control of digital commands or safety contacts.

An example is the transfer of the movement limit switches in the Master/Slave configuration of 2 overhead cranes that move simultaneously.

SODEX AND REMdevice: A GLAD COLLABORATION THAT LOOKS TO THE FUTURE

FROM A SCHOOL PROJECT TO THE IDEA OF REVOLUTIONIZING THE CONSTRUCTION SECTOR.

Ralf, Raphael, Bernhard and Justin.
These are the names of young (former) Austrian students who, starting from a school project, are now pursuing their goal of changing the world of construction.
How? Having the excavator checked not by the operator on board, but independently to reduce risks and timing in the world of earthmoving.
Armed with talent and a good dose of creativity and determination the young team, after almost 3 years of work has passed several milestones and does not seem they want to stop!

IDEAS THAT TAKE FORM

Starting from a model, the guys from Voralberg have developed a fully functional excavator capable of digging with an accuracy of 2 cm.
The team has developed a modular system that can expand the functions of any excavator.
Thanks to sensors and the developed control, the machine can work without the need for physical intervention from the operator. This allows a better efficiency and a better timing of the work with a direct benefit on both costs and error rate. A system that thanks to a software, calculates the fastest route. The same operator can also monitor and control multiple excavators at the same time.

In March 2020 at the COM:bau exhibition the excavator proved its performances thanks to the installation of a gravel test area that surprised many people.
An idea that got noticed and also convinced several judges in competitions, such as the “Jugend Innovativ” (the largest competition of Austrian ideas), which allowed the young team to establish new contacts in the construction world.
Despite the emergency situation linked to COVID-19, the team has not downsized its goals. The project was presented (online) at several competitions, receiving several awards! The thesis project was delivered to the school in June, which also provided the test area for the future, and the work did not stop.

A COLLABORATION THAT MARRIES TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION

Several companies have contributed with their products and systems to support this project. At REMdevice, we have joined this initiative with great pleasure, providing a T series push-button transmitter with 7 buttons and a Rubybox receiver module. The ideal combination for this project.
“When we heard about “Sodex” for the first time, we were immediately intrigued by the idea,” says marketing manager Davide Luisotto. “As a company strongly oriented towards technological development, we strongly believe in projects that want to improve and make work and safety more efficient. In this case we were even happier because a new and “disruptive” idea, is carried out by very young guys!”

A LOOK TOWARDS THE FUTURE

The road has been drawn the guys are determined to revolutionize the sector but to do this they need a further push. Recently in Vienna, the team participated in the new show Zwei Minuten – zwei Mentoren“. The first show for the promotion of young talents in Austria, to have the opportunity of present visions and ideas in front of high-level mentors.
We just have to wish these young guys a big good luck!

Due to the evolution of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Italy and the measures introduced by the Italian President of the Council of Ministers to contain its spread, REMdevice communicates deferring closure of its factory, in full compliance with the aforementioned provisions and related Prime Ministerial Decree of April 10, 2020.

The production will be closed till 3rd May. Remdevice will be open again the 4th May 2020.

For all others administrative activities, we are operative with smart working solution. With all our efforts, we hope to be as closed as possible to all our customers and suppliers working hard to find together the best solution in order to pass this tough and challenging situation that is affecting all international economy and society.
