To receive NOAA HRPT signals you need, as you can see above:
  • satellite dish ... advisable diameter 1.20 to 1.80 meter
  • feed ... homemade as
    FEED photo ... Enrico's
    ...(28KB)
    FEED photo ... Roberto's
    ...(27KB)
    FEED photo ... prototype
    ...(28KB)
    BARATTOL.ZIP ... our mechanical scheme
    ...(24KB)

If you are in troubles to build the home made feed,
you could contact our friend Giuseppe Bernareggi
ik2wri@amsat.org for any help, iK2WRI homepage.

  • elevation-azimuth dual rotor as
  • the dual rotor
    ...(53KB)
  • 1.7 GHz amplifier or converter from 1698MHz to 141MHz and from 1707MHz to 150MHz (you can use also a Meteosat (Goes) converter from 1691MHz to 134MHz and from 1694.5 to 137.5MHz )
AMPLIFIER photo ... sorry, only prototype, schematic diagrams not available.
    ...(37KB)
  • receiver suitable for the frequency 1698MHz and 1707MHz (or 141MHz and 150MHz if a converter is used) from which you must drive out IF 10.7MHz at least 2MHz Band Width.
Commercial receiver are very expensive so we have planned to build one at low cost.
Visit our RECEIVER page for detailed information.

others photos are available in the
GROUND STATION page

Signal Processing

To display and save images you need also:
  • kit HRPT card NOAA95 to place in AT BUS of PC

Visit our HARDWARE page for detailed information.

  • the oscilloscope and the spectrum analyzer are not indispensable to receive HRPT images. An oscilloscope may be an efficient help to understand if the IF signal is correct.
The photo above show the two instruments while receiving HRPT Manchester good signals.
  • personal computer IBM compatible PC 386 or higher with at least 80MByte HD
  • NOAA95 software ... free use program, not for commercial purposes
    SETUP95.EXE
    Download here the last release

... also visit our SOFTWARE page for detailed information.

Now we suggest to read the Noaa95 F.A.Q. ... you will find help to receive the KIT with the PCBoard and some components not easy to find, and so, build by yourself an HRPT ground station.
