Frequently Asked Questions
NOAA95 - HRPT software & hardware

  • Please advise where I can download NOAA95 software.
Now, directly from the Noaa95 home page at the http://www.REMdevice.com/noaa95/software/index.html
    .....
  • Is a print layout or a printed circuit of the hrpt board available somewhere?
Sorry, NO, we've finished all the kits.
    .....
  • Is it also usable for Meteosat?
sorry no! The HR Meteosat transmissions and the Noaa HRPT are similar. Both are Manchester encoded, but the bit rate and the line start sequence are different! Now, we are also working to this project... but a very big dish (at least 2 mt) antenna is required to reach good signals!
    .....
  • On your NOAA95 board there is a APT input connector. I suppose this input is for the analog audio signal from an external 137 MHz receiver. Is that correct?
No it isn't! It's the output 10.7 MHz for another (APT) board we have designed this year... (it works fine, now we have available the last 5 printed pcb).
If that is correct, is your NOAA95 software capable of displaying APT images!
    sorry... as you see, no!

  • In looking at your hrpt station, what is the HD3-6409-9 chip? It appears to be a Manchester to NRZ converter. Who is the manufacturer?
Yes it is! But here, in Italy, it's not easy to buy! We must have bought 36 pieces in once to the Harris Corporation.

You must check if it's possible tune 1707 and 1698 MHz and if it's available the IF 10.7 MHz with band width greater than 2 MHz, required for the correct demodulation of the NOAA95 board.
    2.-Es necesario convertir la frecuencia de 1707 y 1698?
No if your RX can tune 1698-1707 directly.
3.-El rotor Yaesu 5400B me pude servir para motorizar mi antena parabolica, ¿hay alguno mas adecuado?
Yaesu rotor G 5400B will works well with dish antenna since 1.8 mt diameter. Unfortunately it's the most expensive component of the equipment... but we haven't found anything cheaper.
4.-Puedes darme las medidas de la adaptacion de la parabolica al rotor.
It's not easy, the anchorage dimensions are variables with the dish diameter. Look the photos of our's ground station in the home page to have an idea. Enrico's dish has 1.7 mt diameter, Roberto's 1.5 mt. Grater diameter means strong signals but also the less of the signal for little
